Polk County has contracted with Bul-Hed Corporation for the $3.3 million Lake Annie water quality improvement project. Bul-Hed will make improvements to altered wetlands (previously a peat mine) and uplands along the Peace Creek Canal.

The company will remove invasive vegetation and replant native vegetation, increasing the flow of water, restoring wetlands and improving stormwater treatment. The project will be paid for by Polk County, the federal government’s American Rescue Plan and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
