USGS seeks volunteers to provide data on lawn irrigation water usage
-
Do you own a well that is only used for lawn and garden irrigation?
-
Do you know how much water you are using for lawn irrigation each month?
-
Do you know a friend of family member that might be interested in volunteering in a study?
The U.S. Geological Survey Caribbean-Florida Water Science Center and the Southwest Florida water Management District is seeking 40 volunteers who own wells used strictly for irrigating lawns and gardens in Polk and Sarasota Counties. The purpose of the study is to determine the average amount of water used per month by lawn irrigation wells. Currently, this is the largest use of water in Florida for which there are no good estimates.
