Lake Hancock boat ramp project review delayed

The new boat ramp to serve Lake Hancock is still going to happen, but not as quickly as hoped for.

The project was headed for the Polk County Planning Commission last week, but was continued until the April 6 meeting to take of some last-minute technical issues, said Mike Callender, Polk’s parks and recreation manager.

Callender said this is an unusual review because part of the property is also inside the Bartow city limits and will have to go before the city’s planning and zoning board for consideration as well.

Members of Polk County’s Lakes Access Advisory Committee are scheduled to receive an update when they meet at 3 p.m.Tuesday at Polk Parks and Recreation office in Bartow.
