Water Cooperative Formation Team final meeting on Wednesday


BARTOW – On Wednesday, members of the formation team for the Polk County Water Cooperative will meet for the final time to complete the Draft Cooperative Formation Agreement for approval by all of the cities and Polk County Board of County Commissioners.

The Cooperative’s role is to pro-actively identify alternative water resources and projects that ensure the future sustainability of our regional water supply. It will specifically identify sustainable groundwater sources, develop strategies that meet water demands, determine needed infrastructure and establish consistent rules.

The city manager, mayor or elected official of each of the 17 municipalities, the county manager and Commissioner George Lindsey have been meeting since September 2015 to assemble the Cooperative Formation Agreement.

The meeting will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016 at the Winter Haven Chain of Lakes Complex, 210 Cypress Gardens Blvd., Pool Side Room, Winter Haven, Fla. 33880.
