In 2016, the Polk County Board of County Commissioners will be awarding a new contract that will affect residential garbage collection in unincorporated Polk County beginning October 2017. Residents will be given the opportunity to speak out regarding collection of household waste, recycling and yard waste at two community forums.

Forums are free and open to the public. Commissioners will be attending to listen to your feedback regarding the current collection process and your opinions regarding service in the future. They will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015 at the Waste & Recycling Offices, 10 Environmental Loop, Winter Haven (Central Landfill) and 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015 at Lake Eva Banquet Hall, 799 Johns Ave., Haines City.

What do you like about your current collection service? How often do you recycle? What are your preferences for future garbage collection? A new survey is available for residents to voice their opinions, concerns and generally what they want from a new residential garbage contract for unincorporated Polk. The survey, which is available now, can be found through a link at www.polk-county.net/WasteContract.This survey asks several questions about your usage and preferences. It also leaves areas for your comments that may not be addressed by the questions asked. Print copies of the survey are available in BoCC Communications Division offices, 330 W. Church Street, Bartow.
