Regional Water Supply Plan Comment Period Extended
The St. Johns River, South Florida and Southwest Florida water management districts are working with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection, Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services and regional utilities to address near and long-term water supply needs in the central Florida region.
Through the CFWI, the agencies are engaging stakeholders in the development of a Regional Water Supply Plan for the area, which includes Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and southern Lake counties.
The draft Regional Water Supply Plan was released in late November. The Plan:
• Quantifies existing and future water needs
• Ensures protection of water resources and related natural systems
• Identifies sustainable water supply options
To ensure that stakeholders and the public have the opportunity to review and comment on the draft plan, the comment period is being extended to Feb. 20, 2014. The CFWI draft Regional Water Supply Plan is available for public review and comment at CFWIwater.com.
