Commercial Water Customers Sought for Pilot Program

In cooperation with the SWFWMD and University of Florida Extension, the city of Winter Haven is offering selected commercial customers the opportunity to participate in a pilot project to test SMART Irrigation Controllers.

The controller allows your irrigation system to come on only when activated by the device that evaluates plant materials climate and soil moisture content. Customers selected to participate in this pilot program will receive a free irrigation audit conducted on their entire irrigation system; installation of a SMART Irrigation controller programmed for their location and landscaping; and a master gardener to monitor their landscaping and effectiveness of the irrigation controller during the program.

Commercial water customers with a separate irrigation meter and historical high water use for landscape irrigation are invited to participate. The first 50 customers who call the city of Winter Haven at 863-298-5470 will qualify to participate.
