EPA Website, Webinars Provide Guidance on Florida Numeric Nutrient Standards
This month, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency finalized protective standards to help reduce water pollution. The final standards set specific numeric limits on the amount of nutrient pollution allowed in Florida's lakes, rivers, streams and springs. The new rules, which are opposed as too costly to implement by many Florida lawmakers and business leaders, will go into effect in February 2012.
In order to educate water resource managers and the public about the benefits and implications of the new rule. EPA has created an informational website and will conduct four webinars on Nov. 30th, Dec. 2nd, and Dec. 7th. These webinars will allow any participant who has pre-registered for the event to participate in an online meeting, without having to travel to the meeting's actual location.
