Stephenson Ave Pond is located at 35 Carson Ave in Babson Park, Florida. The scope of work for this project was to construct a dry detention pond to alleviate down stream flooding. When this pond fills, the water will flow into a 30" underground pipe installed within the existing right-of-way and will flow to an outfall facility constructed on the School Board property at the end of the road. The project also consists of addition green space and picnic facilities for the community. The improved Stephenson Avenue stormwater management infrastructure is to assist in maintaining the outstanding quality of the lake by reducing erosion and sediment transport along existing roadways and pollutant loads from storm runoff, and to address localized flooding conditions at the south end area of Stevenson Avenue. This project is a cooperatively funded project between the Polk County Board of County Commissioners and the Southwest Florida Water Management District. |
