Tiger Lake Eelgrass Planting
Project Type
Aquatic Habitat Enhancement
Status
Complete
Description
The planting of three acres of eelgrass on Tiger Lake will help to improve the water quality of the lake by absorbing excess nutrients and will provide fish and wildlife habitat. By planting this native submersed aquatic vegetating species this project will enhance the diversity of aquatic plant community in the lake since there is currently no robust submersed aquatic vegetation communities on the lake. This project is being completed in partnership with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Ecosphere Restoration Institute in the hopes of reestablishing SAV on the lake, as it historically was.
