Project Type
Wet Detention Pond
Status
Complete
Description
Crystal Lake wet detention pond was first constructed in 1997 to contain stormwater runoff from the surrounding 63 acre watershed area. The pond was retrofitted in 2011 and involved replacing several dilapidated and non-functioning stormwater structures; and implementing improvements to the existing pond located along North Crystal Lake Drive in Lakeland, Polk County Florida. The Crystal Lake project involves installing several inlets and several hundred feet of storm sewer along North Crystal Lake Drive in Lakeland Florida. The project will eliminate several sources of erosion and the discharge of sediments directly into Crystal Lake. Addition water quality treatment will be provided by the installation of wetland vegetation. The project will capture runoff from 63 acres of untreated stormwater. The retrofitted project will also provide a walking and fishing pier for the local community.
